Ranunculus asiaticus

The Asian buttercup (Ranunculus) is a showy flower wonder of early summer, with colorful full flowers reminiscent of crepe paper.

Plant the rhizomes in loose, well-drained soil in a sunny or semi-shady place. It can be kept in pots or planted outdoors in late April or May. The specimens planted in the garden will thus bloom in June-July. Avoid stagnant water, it can lead to rhizome rot. Allow the soil to dry between two waterings.

After flowering, the plant retracts, at which point the rhizomes are picked up and stored in a cool place in dry peat. We can also try to spend the winter in the garden with a cover. If successful, these specimens will begin to bloom as early as March.
